Day of Giving and Unity – May 5, 2020
Nonprofit Organizations: FAQ
- Can I promote the Day of Giving and Unity on my website, social media, and donor emails?
Yes, you can promote the Day of Giving and Unity through your channels and we have provided you an outline of marketing ideas that will help you make this campaign more successful to your organization and all the organizations involved. Download Day of Giving Logo Here
- When will my organization receive the funds we raise through this campaign?
Once the campaign ends on May 6th, WCF will work to calculate any credit card fees that were not covered by the donors, reconcile the gifts, create statements, and send out grants by ACH to nonprofits. We anticipate we can accomplish this by the 18th of May if not before.
- Is there a fee for my organization to participate?
There is no fee to participate. 100% of the donation will go to the designated nonprofits minus the credit card fees for the incoming gift unless the donor selected to cover the credit card fee. The fee will be anywhere from 2.2 to 3.3%.
- Will I find out who donated to my organization?
WCF will send you a statement of all the gifts designated to your organization. The statement will include the amount of the gift donated and the address of the donor.
- Do we send a tax receipt to the donor?
No, WCF is receiving the donation and we will send the tax receipt. When the campaign is over you are highly encouraged to send a written thank you note to all of your donors.
- How will donors donate during the Day of Giving and Unity campaign?
The Day of Giving and Unity is a 28-hour campaign hosted by the Whitefish Community Foundation. Donations must be made by credit card through the Foundation’s donation portal or donors may call the Foundation and donate by credit card over the phone.
- How are the matching funds applied?
WCF will apply a matching grant of $1,000 to the funds you receive if your organization raises $2,000 or more, donated through the Whitefish Community Foundation during the Day of Giving and Unity campaign.
- Can I participate in this if I am participating in the Great Fish Community Challenge this year?
Yes, you may participate in both campaigns. Under the current economic conditions, we are holding this special day of giving to help local nonprofits that are struggling to pay rent, employees, and raise funds.
- Will I have a fund to log in to for this campaign?
No, this campaign will be administered differently than the Great Fish Community Challenge. You will not have a fund portal, but will be provided a list of donations after the campaign.
