The Great Fish Community Challenge is entering its final week, with more than 3,000 donors already contributing over $5 million to 89 Flathead Valley nonprofits.

The final week is traditionally the biggest week of the Challenge, with millions in donations arriving to close out the campaign. Last year, 4,300 donors helped raise $8.1 million for 85 nonprofits, including the Great Fish Match. The $5 million raised to date does not include the Great Fish Match, which will be announced at the Awards Ceremony.

The deadline to give is Friday, September 11, at 5 p.m.

Hosted by Whitefish Community Foundation at no cost to participating nonprofits, the Challenge makes it easy for donors to support multiple organizations in one transaction. Nonprofits receive 100 percent of donations.

“It’s incredible and inspiring to see so many people come together to support our local nonprofits,” said Alan Davis, President and CEO of Whitefish Community Foundation. “That generosity says so much about our communities. With one week left, every gift is a vote of confidence in the nonprofits that lift up our neighbors and make the Flathead Valley a better place to live.”

Donors can follow the Great Fish Leaderboard and make gifts at whitefishcommunityfoundation.org. Donations can also be made by check or cash with an official donation form, or through gifts of stock or qualified charitable distributions from an IRA.

Donors may also give by phone at (406) 863-1781 or in person at Whitefish Community Foundation, 214 Second Street West in Whitefish, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Two Pop-Up Donation Stations will be open during the final week from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.: Tuesday, September 8, at Park Side Credit Union in Columbia Falls and Thursday, September 10, at Three Rivers Bank in Kalispell.

At the end of the Challenge, Whitefish Community Foundation will provide each participating nonprofit with a percentage matching grant on $25,000 raised during the campaign. The Great Fish Match is funded by the Foundation’s Circle of Giving donors and gifts made directly to the Great Fish Match Fund.

The community is invited to celebrate the conclusion of the Challenge at the Great Fish Awards Ceremony on October 22 at the Wachholz College Center in Kalispell. The event brings donors, nonprofits and community members together to celebrate the incredible work of our local nonprofits. Final campaign results and the Great Fish Match will also be announced.
