October NPDP Workshop

Essentials of Board Service

Thursday, October 8, 2026 | 11:30 a.m.–1:00 p.m. | Zoom

Governing effectively is essential to a strong nonprofit, but what does it actually mean to govern? Join us for a workshop designed for those new to board service or looking to refresh their knowledge. We’ll explore the fundamentals of effective nonprofit governance, including board roles and responsibilities, the distinction between governing and managing, and strong relationships among board members, executive directors, and staff.

Drawing on 25 years of consulting with nonprofit boards, Ned Cooney will share practical insights and lessons from his career to help board members better understand their role and contribute more effectively to their organizations.
