One of the most rewarding parts of our work is seeing the many ways Community Grants strengthen northwest Montana. Funded by our Circle of Giving, a dedicated group of donors who contribute $5,000 or more annually, these grants support local nonprofits working every day to meet community needs and create opportunities for residents across our region.
One of the most encouraging aspects of this year’s grant cycle was the number of first-time recipients.
Nineteen organizations received a Community Grant for the first time, reflecting both the growth of the nonprofit sector and the emergence of new ideas to address local challenges and opportunities.
Friends of Ferndale Montana Fire received funding toward a new brush fire truck, helping strengthen emergency response capabilities in a region where wildfire remains an ongoing concern. Gateway to Early Learning received support for preschool and childcare programs, giving young children a strong start while helping working families access quality care.
Other first-time grants support opportunities that enrich lives in different ways. Montana Legal Services Association received funding to provide civil legal aid for low-income Flathead Valley residents, helping ensure access to justice for those facing significant challenges. The Big Sky Astronomy Club received support for a customized storage facility that will expand community science and stargazing programs, while the Whitefish Songwriter Festival received funding to bring people together through music and contribute to the cultural vitality of our region.
These organizations may serve different populations and pursue different missions, but together they reflect the breadth of work happening across northwest Montana. Some help in moments of crisis. Others focus on education, the arts, community connection, or expanding access to essential services. Each plays a role in building a stronger, healthier, and more vibrant community.
Thank you to our Circle of Giving donors for making these grants possible. Your generosity helps local nonprofits turn ideas into action, respond to emerging needs, and create lasting impact throughout northwest Montana.
